What Are Power Portraits?

I know you’re asking yourself “What is a Power Portrait?”

Maybe you’re even asking yourself “What exactly is a Portrait?”

Photographers have been creating portraits for thousands of years. A portrait is a moment in time that you capture of a person to display likeness, identity and personality. I do this in a very unique way by connecting with my subject and making them feel as comfortable as possible in front of the camera. My goal is to always bring out the best version of you before, during and after your portrait session with me.

What is a Power Portrait?

A Power Portrait is bold, creative and, of course, powerful. It’s a photograph that makes a statement and exudes confidence. It’s a photograph that can create strong feelings in a viewer on an emotional level. I tend to capture power poses that convey a sense of story, character, and individuality.

What are Power Portraits used for?

Power Portraits are used to show the power, importance, virtue, beauty, wealth, learning, and other qualities of the subject. They can be used to bring awareness to you and your brand to make you stand out in your industry. They can be a forever memory that hangs on the wall of your new home.

How to Create a Power Portrait

The key to taking successful power portraits is the ability to create a strong connection with your subject and inspire them during the session. This can be through music or friendly conversation. There are 5 core elements that make up an amazing portrait: Location, lighting, composition, emotion and technical settings. When all of these elements are executed well, a power portrait is created.
